This week was a short work week. My spring break began on Thursday.

Monday 11.03.2019
Today we started off our day with a group meeting about spring break at Gustolab and then had a tour of a slaughter house scheduled, but I had to miss it due to my ankle, re acting up again... I finally found some ice packs at a pharmacy and have been resting my ankle ever since, and its already feeling so much better. I also got invited by the Gustolab staff to be included in a traditional drink and apertiser.. more commonly known as an apertive. I was a little nervous to join because it was with all of the students from Hobart, but it ended up going very well, and I left with more new friends!

Part one of my first asignment was due today for Gustolab. I had to have my research completed and created a data base to turn in to my supervisor here. This was a little difficult for me because I had never really created a data base before. Today I also worked at Zapata Romana and was assigned to work on coming up with activities to work with kids in the garden that involve soil, seeds, and plants. Some examples of activities that I came up with are....

Today was a very busy day for myself. I had to wake up at 7:45 am, and then get to the bus by 8:45 to wait for it to come (because it never comes on time) and then arrive to work by 9:30 at Linaria. At Linaria today my task was to clean up some of the garden beds that were located on their property. I was extremely happy to do this because I find weeding and re potting plants to be very theraputic. I also find it interesting because I get to see the different plants and bugs that Italy has from America. I stayed there today until 1:00 p.m. Then head home to make a quick lunch, and be back at Gustolab for my weekly check in meeting with my supervisor Guilia. We discussed how everything was going and what to expect over the next week during spring break. Then had my one on one Italian class for two hours.

Today is my last day before spring break starts!!! When I arrived at Zappata Romana I was greeted by Silvia who was excited to tell me about the Fridays for Future strike going on. She was so surprised that I had never heard about it, and so was I. So Silvia asked me to research this strike and write up a little flyer on it to put in the garden to inform others about this strike happening. I learned that it occurs every Friday and it involves students, teachers and adults who believe in drawing attention to the issue of climate change. This all started with a 15 year old girl names Greta, from Sweden who began to think about why she was even attending school if we have no future due to climate change. She questioned why be educated, if no one is even listening to educated people. This strike was happening world wide tomorrow (15.03.2019) and Silvia asked me to go and take pictures for her and as part of my assignment.

It was truly amazing to see all the different ages of people who came to support this strike. I am extremely thankful, and proud to say that I participated in this amazing world changing, future changing, life changing event.
