You know the feeling of when you have been waiting a long time for something special to happen? Well that was me this Monday.

Tuesday 02.12.19

Today was my first day back, it was a sort of strange feeling because I was nervous all over again. Just like starting from the beginning again. A few hours into the day my nerves calmed and I felt more at home. I worked on translating small garden bios for Zappata Romana. This was a pretty exciting task for me because not only did I get to learn a lot about urban gardens in Rome, but my work was going to be published! (I will totally share the published text later!!!)

Wednesday 02.13.14

Today my internship was canceled because my supervisor thought it was too difficult for me to get there due to the walking distance (up hill) to Linaria. I was honestly relieved when she told me the news because my ankle was feeling very sore from being on it all day yesterday. Luckily everyone has been understanding of my situation which has eased my nerves about missing so much work.

I went to my Italian class at 3:00 p.m. If i'm being honest this is probably the hardest part of my trip. Since I speak a little spanish already, pronouncing the words is almost impossible for me. For example to say "how do you say" in spanish would be "Como Se Dice?" pronounced desa) and it's in italian its "Come Se Dice? ... except you pronounce it (deche).. CONFUSING RIGHT?!?!?!

Thursday 02.14.19

Today when I went into work I had the nice surprise of being handed all of the finished products of what we have been working on over the past few weeks. Here is a few of them for you to see!

After reading and translating all these little stories about these tiny gardens, I am overwhelmed with the thought of hope. All of these little exerts tell the story and history of how these gardens came to be, what they had to go through, who was involved and the challenges they overcame. Whether or not you are interested in living a sustainable lifestyle involving food, this can apply to you in any way. With enough hopeful and optimistic people working together to create a strong bond in a community, things will move forward.
